MY PHILOSOPHY:
You probably have noticed that this page is titled "About Me" instead of About Us. The most important thing to know about me is that I believe in honesty and fairness, quality not quantity. I am a sole proprietor so there's no reason to try and mislead you into thinking
One Dot Webs
is an "us".
If you're a client who wants the personal attention you deserve, then allow
One Dot Webs
to be your solution. What sets me apart from the dozens of other web design companies is that I will only take on projects that I can personally give 100% to, so that your web site is up and running on Internet in a timely manner. You won't be waiting months to see what you've paid for.
I would rather have satisfied clients that will be my best advertising than to mislead or promise work I can't deliver.
UNIQUELY QUALIFIED:
The saying, "
You can't have a career without a job
" best sums up my professional experience. These were a few of the highlights that brought me here.
I was an editor for TV Guide at a time when I thought I wasn't a good writer but still was assigned the Los Angeles edition for them. Sometimes experience under fire proves the most beneficial.
I was an executive secretary with McDonnell Douglas before they merged with Boeing. Secretary, you say? Despite my official title, I had the experience of working within a company of over 40,000 employees. You definitely learn patience and how to adjust to many different personalities. It also allowed me to be a part of history when I was invited on a test flight of one of the first MD-11 aircraft.
I was hired in Human Resources at the Scripps Research Institute where I was given the assignment of managing their Novell network even though my title was secretary. Although I didn't have any formal technical education, they saw I had a willingness to expand beyond my job description and learn what was needed. A "can-do" attitude goes a long way in becoming successful.
Before most people had cell phones, Nokia Mobile Phones gave me another great opportunity. I should probably say I "went after" the opportunity. They were hiring engineers faster than they could find them but I noticed they never had job ads for support personnel. I wanted in on that industry so got creative and within a week, I was in! Once again, my job title was executive assistant. Typical assistant tasks were quickly shuffled to other people as I took on facilities planning, setting up the company's phone system for over 200 employees, writing and teaching computer software classes, and assisting the IT department. Once they saw my technical abilities, I was asked to create a company Intranet (internal Internet) for the San Diego division. This was prior to any of today's user-friendly web design software. All we had was raw HTML coding but I quickly learned what was necessary.
Most recently, I took on the job of starting a marketing department for a computer software company. Designing their first website and print material was a large part of that.
In addition to some extremely fun jobs through the years, I also hold a hairdresser license (for the creative part in me) and a paralegal degree for the part that never gives up.
With my years of varied experience and skills, I feel I'm uniquely qualified to provide a valuable service for you and I think you'll be satisfied with the results.
